Challenge 185: Rest
Rating: G
Character: Toby
Word Count: 100

There’s an arm hanging from a tree near the White House, and it’s not attached to a body.

Toby considers the arm and it takes him a minute to realise that it’s plastic. It’s obviously unfeeling, detached. Quite like Toby’s life, coincidentally.

He’s got more tasks than ever before with no foreseeable rest. They’re contentious issues and Toby knows he should be barracking passionately for one side but he finds he just doesn’t care and can’t make himself. He can’t even figure out why.

There’s an arm hanging from a tree near the White House.

Toby thinks he’s going crazy.

Hee. I can see this being part of an episode, actually. :)
Now how did the arm get there?

How perfectly odd. I like it.

Hee! I totally imagine Toby's inner monologue to sound like this.. bizarre with a hint of sadness. :)

Well I had to click the link with an opening line like that! And strangely, the fact that it's a plastic arm disturbs me even more. It's something so out of place and a totaly double take that it makes the reader question reality for a moment, just like Toby. I really like this - thanks for sharing!
